2012 musical adaptation is far more accurate and best adaptation on a high scale budget. It was based on theatrical play. As per original book Jean val Jean(Sivaji Ganesan equivalent) is a criminal accused for bread stealing and serves 19 years prison sentence. He gets reformed by a priest who pardons him for trying to steal a silver utensils (knife) from his house and doesn’t report to the police, instead gifts the item to him.. then the hero gets reformed.. helps people unconditionally..invents a rubber product, becomes rich, mayor..adopts a girl from a worker who works and suffers from poverty and dies..the girl then meets a boy who is involved with a revolt movement in France.. meanwhile a police searches for the hero to put him behind the bars as he had escaped..once val jean goes gets arrested to save a poor man who was arrested in his name. The hero saves the Javert’s(police’s) life once and then the police dies of shame.. hero saves the son in law during the revolt without his knowledge .. but knowing his criminal past son-in-law asks not to meet his adopted daughter.. then comes to know he was saved by the hero.and asks for forgiveness . And the hero dies in the end..
In gnaana oli, the hero marries, gets a daughter, the daughter grows , loves, the hero kills the lover because he was a cheat and then goes to jail. Have to watch the rest of the story.
