An existential crisis of an Indian stock broker

Chapter 1 – A stock broker and his questions

It was late evening 3 PM when Kiran entered his office room. He is working as an investment manager with the stock broker HHXFC securities. He has to make calls on stocks in the stock exchange. He recommends stocks to buyers. He analyses the technical side of the stock and makes calls. He had completed his Technical Analysis and few other courses in National Stock Exchange apart from Masters in Business Administration in Investment Management. Lately stock market was going on an upward trend and all his stock recommendations had hit a bull’s eye, a 100 % success rate. He had betted largely on buying and limiting the loss of the stocks with Stop Loss price and to his surprise, it was a one way momentum, the stocks had largely successfully avoided hitting the stop loss price. He was happy. There are various technical analysis charts for a stock and one among them is head and shoulders pattern. What is head and shoulders? The chart will look like a mountain or a person’s head and shoulders and a neckline will be drawn and this indicates a reversal pattern from a bullish or bearish trend and it is based on the volume of trades and the pattern. There are huge number of buyers and huge number of sellers and they negotiate in the stock exchange continuously. Sometimes large brokerage firms use algorithmic trading, where computers with built-in parameters order and execute trades on their customer’s behalf making him to question the purpose of money and how the economy works. Is it all real and why certain countries prohibit stock trading etc. He was browsing the list of all the stock recommendations by all the trading brokers from stocksanalyser website which compiles the list of all stock recommendations and to his surprise he saw that all the stock recommendations by leading brokers had worked. Stocks are trading at 45 times and sometimes 60 times the intrinsic or real value. Who is monitoring the stock market was his question? What will happen to the money that he is earning? Will it have any value? Why did Zimbabwe’s economy crashed and a piece of bread was sold at around million currency? What more costly gadgets can he lay his hands on? Is the world that he is living on is about to crash? Do the people of his country and the world monitor the stock markets? Is the Government watching the stock market? Should he pursue some spiritual journey in order to allay his fears and live a calm life? His office had a simple setup. Flower pots and poster quotes by leading businessmen decorated the room. In one poster Mr.Bloom Jimsfield, the founder of superloop was there with the quote, “You give 90 hours to do a job, it will take 90 hours and if you give 9 hours, it will take 9 hours”.  Purple lilac artificial flowers gave a vibrant look to the room. He searched in the internet in order to find answer but he couldn’t. Internet data is what it is programmed for and it will not display alternate theories. People who search for alternate theories are either silenced in one way or another. There were also small photo frames of famous spiritual gurus collaged in a single photo. The room had a shelf that was dedicated to idols and arts made of plastic, ceramic and other materials. On seeing those works, he questioned do people value those that are made at lesser or affordable costs compared to the works that are obtained at higher rates. These are philosophical questions which come under the category of aesthetics of everyday objects. Does the person know the labour that a person undergoes in order to complete his work? What about the people of Africa who sell their small handicraft arts through United Nations website and there is an African term for well being- ubuntu? They sell hand made soaps and other products. How many people buy? How many people lead a conscious living? Do people value solitude?  What about the plenty of art works that he had obtained by touring various cities and landmark places? Those works looked pretty difficult to make and requires plenty of skill, labour and effort. He is spending multiples of hundred and thousand rupees to buy those pieces. In his computer he played a YouTube video by a spiritual guru, who was saying, only those who earn the money know the value of money. How true it is! And the person also remarked that, because of high earning individuals from IT sector, money is been spent casually without thinking about repercussions of tomorrow and other individuals in the society. His job is to simply place orders in the stock market and create a software by giving business requirements to the development team. Because of the stress in the job, he boozes with his colleagues, which could be called social drinking and on occasions he drinks alone in the evenings and as a result of boozing, he thought he is feeling fresh and energetic for work the next day. It was his opinion. His colleagues thought him of as weird person who doesn’t know how to socialise and in order to belittle his intelligence they made him to drink and made fun of him while he was in drunken state. He knows that if he leaves his job, there are plenty of people to fill his role. His role is not an exquisite role and for him finding the next job is difficult.  While he is earning money, he spent as he liked. Though he thought of all the philosophical terms and discussions, since his mind was diverted on various tasks, he was not able to focus on anything in particular which required subject knowledge expertise. So he could be called a normal human being with cogito ergo sum(he thought therefore he existed) ability or he could be called as a ghost in a machine, as Gilbert Ryle put it. His family had forced him for some savings. Else, he would have spent the last penny on everything he could lay his eyes on- electronic gadgets- DSLR, smartphones, magazines, clothes, movies. To him, stock trading looked like betting on upside and getting things right- both micro and macro economic factors. People see the fancy computer screens and stories of how some people made huge profits in stock market and they enter the trade, calling for the names of famous companies with the hope that they will be able to make profit in the market. They learn how to trade and then make loses and then they exit for some other job. That is the case with majority of traders. There will be many books that tell about stock market trading but what most of them won’t tell is, the stocks are already trading at 16-20 times the actual value. As more and more buyers enter the trade, stock prices could spiral up and it could even be manipulated by computers. People who get commissions for trades, who knows the ins and outs of trade and make the softwares will get benefitted, whereas it is difficult for new people to enter the stock market. There are software simulations where people can get trading experience, but being a master is no smaller task. It might take years of experience and patience with some accounting knowledge along with knowing the economy of the country and the sector in which the company is in. If it is a FMCG company, a particular accounting factor has to be taken into account and if it is a manufacturing company, another accounting factor has to be taken into account; these are the fundamentals of the stock. Of course one could buy calls and options or futures even without stocks at hand, which could be called as a kind of betting rather than hedging. Whether it was the previous government or the big brother or some other firm, they had given him training on stock market trading and in it there were warnings and cautions about how futures and options are betting equivalents and stock market should not be ventured by anyone who does not have enough savings. He saw some of his known people do the exact opposites of what was advised and making losses. Why they did that, he was not sure. Like the devil, it smiled before it did this. The recent regime change which in the name of encouraging businesses and removing curbs, had changed the study materials, removed the warnings and cautions. So people who are prone to mistakes are encouraged to do more mistakes and people who can capitalise on the mistakes will gain. Also people who have enough money and influence can venture into stock trading and bet thereby only the rich will get richer and poor remains poor. Even if poor enters a stock trade, they might not know what it is to trade in a terminal window. Computer’s acronym is Common Operating Machine for Technological and Educational Research. How many does know it? There are two stock exchanges in the country; one in New Delhi and another in Mumbai, just like NASDAQ(which trades in IT companies) and NYSE(which trades in non-IT sector mainly). In a book there was a note that an old woman had bought a Sun Pharmaceutical stock at one point of time when she was young and had kept it for a long time and then one day she became a millionaire. The phrase, ‘who wants to be a millionaire?’ was constantly haunting him. He looked at all the company products and gadgets that he had got. He at one point of time had bought a book with the title, ‘God created the Integers’ as he was interested in mathematics. The book had the original papers that were published by ancient Greeks and later day mathematicians. He was surprised why the book was titled as God created the integers as those were mainly works of normal people who had access to previous papers. Are those people called as god equivalents? For example, ancient Greeks had discovered that however hard one tried, one couldn’t square a circle. So, even if God tried, God couldn’t square a circle, something like squircle or a circle within a square could only be created. What about the internet article he read, that equated people to stocks? Someone had listed himself on a stock exchange, in order to fund his ambitions! How crazy is that idea? It is like getting a loan from a loanshark except the loanshark won’t be so rough. He also wondered why in ancient days, scientists were denounced by clerics. Why were there such controversies and why such protections were needed? He came across various theories of evolution and wondered why he was made to study science when he is been raised in a conservative background. How can he have two faces and why god is important in his life. Who is god and what role he or she had played in his life. Through what method can he be certain that therefore god exists and hence all the alternate versions are false. He had forgotten although that he may not be qualified enough to speak or think about god. Why was god invented ? Shakespeare points out that, people may be like wanton flies to god, is it true he wondered. There were many motivational speakers books he had bought, Robin Sharma, Norman Vincent Peale, John Maxwell, Shiv Khera to name some but he couldn’t incorporate the methods, even though reading their books brought temporary relief because he was unwilling to change his lifestyle for the better. Why should he change himself? For what? Isn’t he good enough? Why should he win? Winners are remembered. What is it like to be a person who is standing out from the crowd? Why should he set high standards or is it like the low morales or the devil will catch up forcing to new lows? What about the people who surround and tell, don’t act too smart, aren’t they preaching common sense, to be among the crowd so that life could be simple? But if he allowed everything, what others say, then one day he might be finding himself alone and an alcoholic, roaming in the streets, where everyone would have got settled and moved on with life preaching to others, when in real he is a failure. It is like the phrase by Jack Welsh’s book, ‘Take Control of your life or someone else will’. Who can take control? It is my life! I will live it uglily without shame in spite of whatever others say. The world might look spitting in the face and a person could proclaim, “Men may go, men may come, I go on forever!”, like Winston Churchill but wouldn’t a person’s ego get hurt, when everything his is been robbed and his dignity is been questioned, shamed and ridiculed. His room was A/C conditioned and he had a black pant to match his white shirt which was tugged in. As he couldn’t jot it down in a notebook in his busy schedule, nor find answers, he went out of his room once to eat vada pav and have a coffee taking care that he doesn’t strain his white shirt.

—-End of Chapter 1——

Chapter 2 Vada Pav and a walk

As he went out, he saw people from various backgrounds; from tea seller in a cycle to a street sweeper. He paid 20 Rs for his vada pav and the coffee. Vada pav is the Indian equivalent of burger with samosa in between the bun. There were people who were lying in the street pavement, with blankets. He remembered his early childhood days when he wanted to help poor based on some ideology shown in tv but he didn’t have such a noble heart or tendency and he didn’t know how best to help people. After sometime he got used to seeing people asking for help and got used to not helping people. Later when questioned, he reasoned, as he wasn’t sure what is the best way to help people, he didn’t help people. He then went in for a walk along the pavement which was neatly built and was bustling with people walking to the nearby shops. There was a French bakery, few cloth shops, Titan showroom, an Italian restaurant and a sprouting mall nearby which are so popular with young people. So the streets are crowded with them. While walking he was seeing, a couple holding hands and walking in blue tracksuits and their dress was covered with sweat making a clear impression that they had a good workout in a gym or had a good outdoor exercise. There was a mobile paani puri shopkeeper who was wearing a white striped shirt and a few autos and cabs located in front of the mall(market complex). He remembered the early days of his childhood when he saw in the news about bombing of the stock exchange which was called the black friday and wondered if the questions that were plaguing his head plagued those people so badly that they took up arms in order to solve it for themselves. If thought police are real, they would call him thought terrorist for having so many thoughts in his idle brain. He went for a 2 km walk to the nearby mall and decided to book a ticket for a movie in order to free up his mind. While holding his hands inside the pocket, he walked and reached the mall. He wondered, whether unknown to him, he is living in a virtual reality where in he is just a character who interacts with nearby objects and is controlled by someone. The newly built mall gave him that impression. Just like a mobile game where he witnessed characters moving, he felt he too to be a part of such fantasy. Is it a dream or is it merely fantasy? Will someone come and take control of things at some point of time? He was wearing a Titan watch in his left hand, as he was a right handed person and was operating his mobile operating system playing a game. Everything looked genuine at some point of time and everything looks like a toy at another point of time. In men’s magazines, the mostly advertised products are watches, eye glasses, expensive suits, shoes, gadgets. Then there is a propaganda that money is the root cause of all evil in some local movies. He wondered whether god knows how to operate the operating systems that he is operating or whether he is intelligent than god? If he simply writes stories, will he become intelligent? Can he be said to possess what others don’t try?  Can he live without eating like some yogis do ? Is he an altruist or a materialist? What is a sin? To come out of the life that is custom designed to suit everyone and explore these concepts? Is it a sin? Does someone have answers for these questions? He looked at men’s magazines and he saw the poster lady on the magazine for some time and questioned is he a pervert because he saw them or are they designed to make men pervert or custom designed for pervert men? Is he a fundamentalist, because he thinks on these lines or a reluctant fundamentalist, that is a fundamentalist who is reluctant to take up the cause which he is fighting for? Where does his conscience go at that point of time? Had he trained his conscience to look at women or was it trained by someone or is it a sin at all to look at women by men and women by men or same gender even? People posing for the magazines are fit and strong enough with much talent. The same could be said of people who play and compose music. What talent does he have or can he nurture apart from finding faults, taking arms, opposing, being a chauvinist, a hypocrite or contemplating? Will there be a degree certificate been given for a person who is contemplating these thoughts? Why blame money and its consequences, it is simply desire, which is called mohā and condemned in Buddhism? These thoughts were having a say in him, when he came across a book titled, “ Everyone loves a good desert” in the bookrack, he realised how ironic the title is, in spite of all the good things, people don’t want double speak as its repercussions are hard, they either make a person stupid/ignorant or people consume things in excess, causing distress in life. These questions were plaguing him. He remembered Reader’s Digest article in which he read that, telomerase is the gene responsible for aging and researchers are exploring ways in which a person can live upto 125 years through that gene and he thought of holism and laughed, as not only telomerase but social factors such as those highlighted in Maslow’s hierarchical structure and others too play a role.  It is difficult to digest and aptly had come in a magazine titled Reader’s please digest! To him nothing is complete, all the logos of the products, be it electronics or TV channels have some incompleteness; there is Gestalt Psychology involved. People assume it is complete and this is the world. How come the information that they give be assumed as complete he wondered? Are they given for better and happy living in order to enslave people? When spirit is chained, many things could be achieved said Nietzsche and he wanted to achieve many things in life, but in what ways he could best achieve them. Or is there nothing that needs to be done in life and a man can simply lead a peaceful life without troubling himself and keeping his soul clear ? A burp came out aloud while he was in the mall and everyone looked at him. He thought the vada pav is worth a thought. It has enlightened me in ways I couldn’t understand. “Let me go home and note it down!”

Chapter -3 The killing desire to achieve

He wrapped up his work and went home that evening. “I want to achieve something in life. There is something missing” he thought. He had in his home, Though there are light hearted books such as, ‘Five Point Someone’,’Married But Avaiable (MBA series)’, serious books such as ‘Who moved my cheese?’, ‘Chicken soup for a healthy soul’, ‘You can win’ books caught his eye and created an impression that something is inherently is missing in his life. A thought crept in his mind, why not jot down my philosophical thoughts and put it as a book? Fortunately he realised that Indian Philosophy had deep roots, covering everything and everyone. It’s vast! From Dalit Philosophy, Dravidian Philosophy, Jain Philosophy, Buddhist Philosophy, Hindu Philosophy to Western Philosophy everyone had been vastly discussed and analysed. Even the scholars who are learnt in these schools preached in TV for free! Or should he try some task which would enter Limca Book of Records or Guinness Book of Records? The answer popped up as a big no, as it is difficult! Should he try to learn some new skill, help others, keep mind calm and remain contended?  What about the job? What about his habits, which would cost him some money. Like spending on magazines, gadgets? The easiest thing that came to his mind is to become an armchair philosopher, speculating things, proposing thought experiments, but nevertheless require good concentration and knowledge on the subject apart from cleverness. Even Stephen Hawking’s science book ‘A Brief History of Time’ had some basic philosophical terms and discussions. Then he realised there were many people who had done so on various philosophical topics. How come ancient vedanta help modern readers, it had been done in some books as Chanakya’s Neeti. There are many preachers and well read scholars who bring about various topics together for a peaceful and harmonious living. But our hero doesn’t like to obey authorities. He like to explore on his own, navigate the waters. That is the thirst for achievement. It is not bad and a thing to be ridiculed. It is the desire of the next generation enthusiasts to do something better for the society. The book, ‘How I braved Anu Aunty and found a million dollar company’ gives an outline about one such person. South Indian star Rajinikanth has also entered philosophy circles by his Rajini’s Punchtantra book. Ancient Greek philosophy and Indian history was mixed and cooked up together in fictions like ‘The Secret of the Druids’ and ‘Jaya-An Illustrated History of Mahabharata. So which topic is unexplored till now he thought? What about sarcasm? No! He hadn’t got the option to have a look at Wendy Doniger’s Hindus: An alternative History book, which was highly condemned for the tone and hurting the sentiments of the people. There are plenty of other good books which might have a good tone of sarcasm, like Sashi Tharoor’s book ‘The great Indian Novel’ which tried to combine Mahabharata and Indian politics but why he didn’t like was, he is not as scholarly as other people are and therefore he can’t criticise others! There is also a book which had found similarities between locks, mathematics and Mahabharata, which had some funny comparisons. There is also plenty of spiritual philosophers who preach and smile, knowing all the nook and corner of the mind apart from mystics and zen masters who publish books under various titles. So, where does the protagonist fit in? Is he an expert in stock market? No! How to become an author in less time and also become a best-selling one? There are various agencies that have taken control of the people who wanted to self-publish and they offer glamorous terms and conditions, like specific charges for getting published around the globe, going to book fairs and selling in online agencies and many other terms and conditions. It is a daylight robbery! Nothing concrete will be achieved through these means.  Or should thereby a desire to help others by joining some Non-Government Organisations(NGOs)? Some might argue that, what is wrong with the current job? Why can’t a person be happy with it? It is difficult to categorise which is good and which is bad. What about becoming a rapper, a chess grandmaster? There are many people who have succeeded after starting late in the career. Why can’t I? Can I ask for divine intervention? What should I do? Or should I become a famous person by doing some notorious activity and thereby coming in the newspaper or accusing someone of something for which they are not responsible? A writer, a part-time athlete, a script writer and many more? He realised that, by simply achieving something, one will not attain happiness, as was argued in Bhagwat Geetha. Success is a path, not a goal was argued by many people before. Even the topic of absurdity had been explored by Albert Camus and suicide had been discussed and debated by some philosophers with extensive citations to western literature and history. What else to be done and some best way to live? Should I chat bhajans continuously and live like a monk? Is it possible ? Taming the monkey mind is difficult and achieving the golden feat of being noble and virtuous from a life lived with vices is also difficult. Fasting for a cause like alcohol prohibition? Fasting is possible but some enzymes or hydrochloric acid in the stomach start to ask for digestive materials and thereby more. Dil maange more! ( The heart asks for more! )Dilwale duniya le jayenge!(People with heart, take away the world!). So many captions and titles for a person who is living with a heart. What about heartless monsters? Are there zombies? They get nothing ? Is that all this world all about? They rob a person’s heart and make him a zombie. Do such cunning people live in this planet? What genes and enzymes guide a person who is made to live such a life? No genetics and biotechnology can help such a person! Even the history of genes and cancer has been traced and written as books(The Emperor of Maladies and Gene: An Intimate History) by Dr.Siddhartha Mukherjee. So they are authentic and epistemology part is covered and an internet article has the ontological part- the ontology of gene! The philosophical question of ontology – does it get applied to gene? Since gene is the fundamental building block of the body, what about the ontological questions? How does it exist in space and time? Is it separate from mind? Or mind is part of the gene? Have such concepts been explored in psychogenetics ?  There is systems biology, biomedical technology, psychology, philosophy, theology. What should one hope and strive for ? Is there any ultimate reality or there is nothing in the world? The world is a stage created for living and acting, just like the globe theatre by Shakespeare? So opportunities that sprout up, if questioned by law disobeying individuals or skeptics then will be used against the individuals to make them obey to authority like in totalitarian regime or authoritarian state or fundamentalist people or clever tricksters, to make them realise that opportunities are difficult to get and you have pissed enough number of people and so you have to live your life contently just like some animal, or fight against another animal in order to survive! What is this world?

————————————————

Chapter 4 Eat like a pig, oblige like a goat and question- die anyhow

Promise like a Mahatma and then question with your āthma. You can’t fight. It is like facing the absurd. Absurd doesn’t give you any proper answers. Could it be equated to immovable God or is it absurd or evil? So, one has to give up that right. You have to live happily. Even if you feel something is bad, you have to live happily. You can’t die. You don’t have the right to die. Suicide is a crime but it will be shown repeatedly or not shown at all or told as a sin But what if someone took control of your life for the better, and you didn’t like it because you want to be the person who is in charge of your life even if it is messy!  Books will come with thought provoking titles like, ‘Who will cry when you die’ and what if no one cries in the end, so why should one prolong such a life? Adultery is considered a sin but what if someone shows that it is not a sin on tv or movie, if it is a mutual consent? A person gives up his ideology because he believed in a medium. The power of media cannot be taken for granted! What about the epistemology of TV news channels, internet? I can read a philosophy book, have one belief, live contently or question my belief system to allow other possibilities only to find I might have erred, sinned or made a categorical mistake and never be the same person again. What if I were to write my mistakes in a paper and submit to law officials and get arrested with the hope that I will become a reformed person in prison, only to find prison has many worse criminals and I will get only worse? Will it do any good? I wanted to redeem myself and live a dignified life, how many number of times!  How much troubles am I ready to withstand in the name of God? Bible says, God created the world, in the beginning there was nothing. How true it must be? One cannot say that, before me the world existed and other people’s good works created a good world for me and so for me, they are like God. Even in Indian education the epistemology is preached as mother, father, teacher and then god. A religious preacher might say, what about the people before them and so on? It might be true but doesn’t it cause infinite regress? God created the world. World has integers. Therefore God created the integers. Syllogistic reasoning! The world that a person might be enjoying, might be based on multiple reflections or looped many times giving the impression that there are many things in the world and there are new realities, when in fact there is simply there is god and evil.  A man might feel powerless when he tries to infer whether he is a sinner or has evil thoughts in him. Because he might proclaim himself so highly but might be a normal human being, just like any other person. So to try to infer from many sources of knowledge based on things seen in screen or so, might be simply based on psychology and some mathematics, some genetic algorithm, which might have got mutated many times to give the appearance of plenty when in real the world could be simply nothing. I can’t love god unconditionally as God might do. I am a normal finite human being. How do I want to live? Going to temples, seeing God and then getting his blessings? Well, I do it for few days and then I grow laziness, I commit mistakes based on free will. Can I seek redemption? Is it possible? I try to pray in my room on my own and read some divine prayer books. Sometimes, tears flow down from my eyes. Why does it happen on occasions and not on other occasions? My humbleness and submission to a higher authority for how long or is it an infinite error? There will be instructions on how to pray. Like tell all my sins loudly so that God might forgive me. Excessive forgiveness? There is a philosophical term for that. Eat everything, in spite of having the ability to not eat. What am I ? A kind of pig or a zombie ? I am not a noble soul. Children are equivalent to God etc from plays. No! People are people. God is different and people are different. These impressions get imprinted in the mind. What should I do? Simply while changing channels, there will be plenty of impressions that get formed in the mind. Some repetitive ideas will be told and it will get imprinted in the mind. It is the same case with children in the West and India, in my opinion. In this way, media is the herd keeper, herding the flock. So can it be questioned? Like watching the movies, it is browsing the internet. There will be plenty of information, good and bad data. I might have dreamed of this world, proclaiming let there be evil and I will be right and not get distracted by things. But I might have changed. I am a  different sort of person at different points of time; when I was in my first school, second school, college, job. Without dopamine and other regulators in the body, I am a zombie, a ghost in the machine and philosophical questions and discussions through wrong route, rather than by calm, meditation and stillness. At another point of time, the same dopamine detoxification need might be there, wherein world renunciation because of Buddha or other monks.

Chapter -5 Conclusion- A letter to B.E.D by Kiran

Dear Buddha, Eshwara and other Devas,

Let me throw away all my desires and instincts and live the life purely chanting your name, sing a song, help my country, my family and people and die in the process like countless disciples of yours might have died or let me die with dignity. I have had my weak moments and have paid the price greatly. I don’t know whether I am worthy of remorse, as after countless appeals and promises I had erred again. In my opinion, I might not be a criminal, but a person who had forgotten the moral lines. If I ask you to let me lead a life without food, so that I might not depend on others, you might grant that wish; But as I continue to live with my family, they will provide and make me live.  I ask can I be virtuous if I lead a life like my father or my mother and you grant me that wish, but I falter somewhere and blame you for making me stay indoors and not explore the world. I can ask you to please stop providing me a lifeline and let my miserable being end even though longing to live, will be the basic instinct. I might not have the stamina to distinguish evil and good or have the guts to separate from my relations, even though they might be fake or have betrayed me. I might say I would want to become a mendicant alias sanyasin or become you but desires and other thoughts might take me in other currents. I might see in news some monks attaining moksha or dying by fasting, but I might not be able to because of my longings. Melancholy had been considered a psychic disorder from Shakespeare’s time. Why does it come? When does it come? How does it come? To be or not to be? Some scriptural testimonies and gurus might help in curbing a wandering mind, but are they reliable at all times? Only when hinderances come, a person explores the concepts of karma, otherwise they are abstract concepts that cannot be tested. So, is there karma? What are the hinderances? Can’t a person simply die rather than living with this conundrum? What are the ethical implications of taking one’s own life? I might not like to die at some point of time and at another I might like to die. What if I had attempted to take the life in a haste only to regret later or feeling thankful, that I had survived? What am I? I forget all these questions while I take part in daily affairs which include household chores, tv, music, books, exercises and office routines, but these questions linger nevertheless in my mind. What would happen to a person after he dies?

Thanks and Yours faithfully,

Kiran, a failed economist facing existential crisis
