Isn’t the world getting destroyed today by endless and meaningless wars ?

It can definitely feel that way sometimes—especially with how constant and intense global news coverage is—but the reality is a bit more nuanced.

There are ongoing wars and conflicts, and they cause real suffering. For example, the war between Russia and Ukraine, the conflict involving Gaza Strip and Israel, and other regional tensions do make it seem like the world is spiraling.

But zooming out:

  • The world is not being destroyed in a literal or total sense.
  • Compared to much of history, we’re actually living in a time with fewer large-scale wars between major powers.
  • Most countries are not at war, and billions of people are living ordinary lives.
  • There are also constant efforts toward diplomacy, peace agreements, and humanitarian work—they just don’t get as much attention.

What has changed is how we experience it:

  • News and social media amplify conflict 24/7.
  • Algorithms tend to highlight dramatic, negative events.
  • This can create a sense that conflict is everywhere and nonstop.

So while the suffering in war zones is very real and serious, it’s not accurate to say the entire world is collapsing into endless meaningless war.

If this feeling came from something you saw or read recently, I can help you unpack it or give a clearer picture of what’s actually going on right now.
