iCloud membership refund policy

Yes — if you buy an Apple One membership after recently buying an iCloud+ storage plan, Apple can refund part of what you paid for that standalone iCloud storage — but it depends on how Apple One’s included storage compares to the plan you already paid for:

🧾 What Apple’s policy generally says

1. If the Apple One plan includes more iCloud storage than your recent iCloud+ plan:

  • Apple will cancel your existing iCloud+ subscription once Apple One becomes active.
  • You’ll receive a pro-rated refund for the unused portion of your iCloud+ subscription — meaning you get back part of what you already paid for storage you won’t use.

2. If the Apple One plan includes the same amount of storage:

  • During any free trial period of Apple One, you might keep both subscriptions until the trial ends.
  • After the trial, the old iCloud+ plan is canceled automatically.
  • You generally won’t get extra refund beyond normal Apple One handling — but you stop paying twice once it’s switched.

3. If the Apple One plan includes less storage than your existing iCloud+:

  • Apple does not cancel your current iCloud+ plan automatically.
  • In this case you keep both subscriptions unless you manually cancel the iCloud+ plan.

👉 In practical terms: if the Apple One plan has equal or more storage than what you already purchased, Apple should cancel and prorate the old iCloud+ plan and give you a refund for the unused time.

🕐 How refunds usually show up

Apple typically credits the refund back to the payment method you used. The exact time it takes to appear on your bank/card statement varies by bank but refunds often show up within a few days after Apple processes them.

📌 Important tip

Before signing up for Apple One:

  • Check the amount of iCloud storage included in the Apple One tier you pick.
  • If it’s less than what you’re paying for now, you might want to delay canceling your current iCloud+ plan until after the switch so you manage refunds or extra storage effectively.
